Summer Program on Academic Publishing

Publishing is one of the most important and most difficult things to do in academia. While excellent research skills and an attractive research agenda are necessary, there are many other things that are often unknown to junior researchers and that can make a difference in terms of chances to have one’s own work published and/or to do so without wasting time.

Therefore, with the support of Fudan University and Stockholm University, Prof. Karl Gustafsson and I decided to organize this s 5-day summer program, giving the opportunity to up to 20 PhD students and postdoc researcher from various universities around the world to hear from more experienced scholars, as well as journal and university press editors.

In order to ensure a fairer access to such insights, this program is completely free of charge.

The first edition will take place from the 15th to the 19th of August 2022. This is the schedule:

Day 1: Introduction and Discussion about How to Approach Academic Writing and Publishing with Andrea Ghiselli and Karl Gustafsson.

Day 2: What do the Editor Want? A Discussion with Brent J. Steele (Co-Editor of Global Studies Quarterly), Guo Sujian (Editor-in-Chief or Co-Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Chinese Political Science, the Journal of Chinese Governance, the Chinese Political Science Review, and the Fudan Journal of the Humanities and Social Sciences) and Shaun Breslin (Co-Editor of The Pacific Review).
